On
the grounds of one of Volcano's oldest family homes, Volcano Country Cottages
is nestled among tall, sheltering trees in the heart of Volcano Village. Our nearby
Mom and Pop stores and fine dining at four restaurants are only footsteps away. Experience the magic of Volcano Country, where you can hike over
just-cooled lava or walk through the rain forest among giant tree ferns, accompanied
by the melodies of native song birds. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is one mile
down the road, headquarters to the world's most active "drive-in" volcano.
Visit the Thomas Jaggar Museum and Hawaii Volcanoes Observatory overlooking Halemau'uma'u
Crater, home of Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of fire. Enjoy miles of great hiking
trails, play golf with Mauna Loa as a backdrop, and/or sip Volcano's own vintage
wines. Charming old Hilo town is forty minutes away. Here you can wander
the downtown streets and shops, stop off at the beach for a swim and enjoy the
cuisine of a variety of cultures. The Hilo Farmer's Market (Wed. and Sat.) is
a colorful highlight that spills over with locally-grown fruits and vegetables
and flowers galore. (Don't forget that Volcano Village has a bountiful Farmer's
Market of its own on Sundays!) Just beyond Hilo are magnificent scenic coastline drives, waterfalls and rolling countryside. |
