Too much! Nature gone amok! This is the daily morning 6 a.m. hike for guests at Akiko's Buddhist Bed & Breakfast on the Big Island of Hawaii. The walk goes to Kolekole Beach Park, where the river meets the great open ocean & the sun bursts onto the horizon. |
She harvests the banana, guava & lilikoi which grow on the Grounds & get whipped into your breakfast smoothies. She bakes bread, makes some "mean" French toast & homemade waffles (Of course it varies with how long you stay). She's also an artist and a writer of children's books. We are located 15 miles north of Hilo in a little village of 12 families, mostly elders who have been here forever. Accommodations & setting are simple, quiet & peaceful. |
Here
is another time, another place, the very best of old Hawaii with its own rhythm
& pace. There is no T.V. & radio being played. There is a fine assortment
of books & magazines on subjects ranging from backroad journeys to Hawaiian
Culture. There are short walks & slightly longer hikes. The volcano, sunny
Kona, the rolling hills of Waimea, swimming with the turtles at Punaluu, are all
a day trip away. |
